July 28, 2009 was marked by the appointment of Ze’ev Bregman on the position of CEO. He replaced Haim Shani on this position. Haim Shani stepped down and became the General Manager of the Ministry of Finance of the State of Israel. As of September 30, 2010 the number of NICE Systems’ employees exceeds 2,700 throughout the world.
NICE Systems traces its roots to 1986. Its abbreviation means Neptune Intelligence Computer Engineering. Seven Israeli ex-army colleagues established this company. At that time working out of security solutions and defense applications was the primary realm of the company’s activities. However, then the company began to specialize in the development of civilian applications for the variety of clients, including Business intelligence markets, Contact center and Financial services.
NICE Systems actively uses an acquisition strategy for many years. The company has carried out a variety of acquisitions from 2005 till 2011. The total amount of acquisitions has been equal to $734 million for this period. Among the most expensive acquisitions, it’s possible to distinguish three ones. Thus, NICE Systems carried out an acquisition of IEX Corporation on the 7th of July, 2006. The cost was $205 million. And the last most expensive acquisition was carried out on the 2nd of December, 2011 when Merced Systems was acquired by NICE Systems. The cost was $150 million.
